What the system does
The whole of the male reproductive system comes down to three functions.
- Producing sperm.
- Introducing those sperm into the female reproductive system.
- Producing the hormone testosterone.
Every part maps onto one of the three
| Function | Parts that carry it out |
|---|---|
| Producing sperm | testes (seminiferous tubules), scrotum |
| Delivering sperm | epididymis, vas deferens, the glands, urethra, penis |
| Producing testosterone | testes |
The testis appears twice
The testis is both a gamete factory and an endocrine gland. The testosterone it makes is what caused every change on the adolescence page — so the organ that produces the sperm is also the organ that made the body ready to use them.
