Dispersal by water
These fruits and seeds show the following adaptations for carrying out dispersal by means of water. All three solve one problem: staying afloat.
Bearing porous, fibrous pericarps that help them float
Examples — coconut, sea almond, diya kaduru.
Bearing pericarps shaped so as to help them float
Example — lotus.
Bearing seed coats filled with air
Example — water lily.

The coconut is the clearest case
Everything about a coconut is a boat. The fibrous husk is buoyant, the hard shell is waterproof, and the water inside is the seedling's own fresh water supply for a voyage across salt sea. Coconuts reached islands across the Indian and Pacific Oceans this way, long before anyone carried them.
