Lesson: Chapter 3 — Mixtures

Concentration 1 of 5

Question 1

1 dm³ of a saline solution contains 5 g of sodium chloride. What is its composition in m/v terms?

The right answer is the one marked above.

5 g dm-3. 5 g ÷ 1 dm³ = 5 g dm⁻³.

Unlike a fraction, this one has units and they are not optional. The same solution is 5 g dm⁻³ or 0.005 g cm⁻³ depending on the volume unit used, so a bare number says nothing.
