Lesson: Chapter 8 — Characteristics of Living Organisms

8.7. Reproduction 4 of 4

Question 4

What happens if an organism does not reproduce?

The right answer is the one marked above.

Nothing happens to the organism, but in time its species will disappear from the world. Reproduction is for the survival of the kind, not of the individual.

If nutrition, respiration or excretion stops, the organism dies — of the eight characteristics, reproduction is the odd one out in this respect. Growth and respiration go on independently of it.
