What appliances turn electricity into
We use electrical energy to do many jobs easily. Every time, an appliance turns the electrical energy into some other form of energy that we can use.
| Appliance | Main energy it gives |
|---|---|
| Fluorescent lamp | Light |
| Television | Light and sound |
| Radio | Sound |
| Electric oven | Heat |
| Microwave oven | Heat |
| Induction cooker | Heat |
| Electric heater | Heat |
| Motor | Kinetic energy |

A second conversion
Some appliances make a second conversion after the first. In a filament bulb the electrical energy becomes heat, which makes the filament hot enough to give out light. In a fluorescent lamp it becomes ultraviolet rays first, then visible light.
