Lesson: Chapter 5 — Optics

Images formed by a convex lens 1 of 6

Object between the lens and the focus

With the object between the lens and its focus, the two rays still spread apart after the lens. Traced back, they meet on the same side as the object.

An object between F and the lens; the ray parallel to the axis refracts through the far focus and the ray through O goes straight on; they spread apart, and traced back, dashed, they meet on the object's side at a larger upright image.

The image

On the same side as the object, further from the lens than the object. It can be seen by looking through the lens, but not caught on a screen.

Virtual Upright Larger than the object

This is the magnifying glass — the last skill of the chapter comes back to it.
