From the power station to the home

The electricity in a home comes from the national grid.

Power station → Step-up transformer: 132 kV or 220 kV → National grid → Grid substation: 33 kV or 11 kV → Home: 230 V

The home supply is alternating current at 230 V with a frequency of 50 Hz.
