The pH scale
The pH scale says how acidic or how basic a solution is. It usually runs from 0 to 14, and each number has its own colour.

Neutral
Basic
pH below 7 — acidic
The lower the pH, the more acidic: acidity falls from 0 to 6.
pH 7 — neutral
Neutral substances such as water.
pH above 7 — basic
Basicity rises from 8 to 14.
